Training and Education

Training and education play a vital role in preparing for public health emergencies and disasters. Our short and long-term efforts are to provide preparedness education and training; identify resources for public health employees, medical professionals and the general public.

While education and training programs are being developed in-house, training is also being provided by a variety of other agencies. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Idaho State University - Institute of Emergency Management, and the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice are just a few of the expert organizations providing training resources to enhance our ability to respond.

Another key element to our education and training program is our charter to educate the medical community on public health practices. Syndromic surveillance, disease identification, and management of public health emergencies require a cohesive and coordinated response from all quadrants of the medical community. Cooperative education and training will allow for this type of response.
